Freeing Holland

Hello Eiji,

Since you are interested
in the history of Ann Frank, and Canada
-- there is another very important historical
peace event that happened on your anniversary
"Fight Day". this week May 5.

If you talk to any Dutch person they know about
this day and the role young people from Canada
played on this day.
The bells that you heard every hour walking
through Victoria near the Empress Hotel were a
gift from the Dutch people to Victoria
commemorating this anniversary.......

The most important message for Straight Talk
readers which you continually mention is at the
bottom of the newpaper article from a student
visiting from Canada.
Amy Sheridan, a high school student from
Oshawa, Ont., said she had learned a lot during
her trip.
"You can read about it in textbooks at school but
when you are actually here visiting the places and
experiencing it, it's so much more real," she said.

This statement by the Dutch Prime Minister is
equally important and something you constantly
show in your lectures and Straight Talk.

" with freedom comes the responsibility to bring
it to others and to remain on alert for threats to
freedom"

Here is the "background"

In the city of BERGEN-OP-ZOOM, Netherlands,
a group of Canadian soldier landed in April/May
and fought against to the Nazi to bring peace
and freedom to the Dutch people.
They reached their success May 5.

The Dutch Prime Minister, and Canadian
Prime Minister attended the 65th anniversary
this week along with veterns, but most important
a group of Canadian students from across Canada.
On this "Today we remember how the Canadians
and their allies struggled to bring peace and
security to the Netherlands and the Dutch people.
We are deeply grateful for the sacrifices they made,
" Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende said
when he addressed the crowd.
"Today we also remember the priceless gift they
gave us, the gift of freedom.
"With freedom comes the responsibility to bring it
to others and to remain on alert for threats to
freedom.

"In such a place as this, you may understand how
our land, Canada, gives birth to greatness," said
Canadian Prime Minister Harper said.
"Would you wish to know what heroism is?
Look here.
Do you want to know what it means to be a citizen?
Look here. Would you, a lifetime awaiting you, know
how you should live?
Then look here, and look all about you.
Where only heroes rest."

Amy Sheridan, a high school student from
Oshawa, Ont., said she had learned a lot during
her trip."You can read about it in textbooks at school
but when you are actually here visiting the places
and experiencing it, it's so much more real," she said.
