Why so straight?
Someone who is not only reading Straight Talk but
also really understand what it is for kindly sent me
this note for the readers.

It helps me a lot because I am not a gentleman
who speaks properly, but am like a beast who
roars about things.

Note about ST (Straight Talk).

Readers of ST will often see us talking about the
government, NHK, stars promoting drinking,
other items in an unflattering way.
Why so straight?_c0157558_018171.jpg
[ ▲ Sake and beer are advertised on TV, papers
on trains and in the streets by well-known
actors and sports folks. As a result, so many
people drink on trains, drink as they walk etc. ]

Ever wondered why?
Is it because we are grumpy?
No.
It is because the lives of todays young people are
influenced by the kind of environment [communities]
in which they live in.
All young people benefit from having support
networks and services:
they have less barriers and have a greater
chance of reaching their potential.

So, ST feels it is important to persuade family
members, neighbourhoods, plus city, prefectural
and national governments, to initiate programs that
will help support young people and their families.
ST encourages the readers to spread the message
in your community.

[▲ University students don't seem to have goals
and are just killing time.]

ST Note #2

Media

Why is it important for NHK to get rid of the
"immature programming" and dress the weather
girls more attractively.
Why so straight?_c0157558_0224466.jpg
[▲ NHK is Japan's national broadcaster and
they are very childish in many ways.]

Simple--> Media messages can help or harm
young people.
Media competes with parents and other important
people in children's and youth's lives by passing on
learning, ideas, views, beliefs, culture, traditions,
and values.
Why so straight?_c0157558_0163968.jpg
[ ▲ Approx 30% of students sleep without any
hesitations while in their classrooms at even
top-class universities. ]

Therefore it is important to put pressure on the
media and governments to develop and maintain
guidelines for programming that support examples
of young people [and adults] in leadership roles
and healthy activities.
Why so straight?_c0157558_0265158.jpg
[ ▲ It reads "NHK's common sense is against the
world's common sense" which really means
"NHK is utterly absurd", according to Newsweek.

「 Straight Talk

*「 Straight Talk
