Grass hopper and the sidewalk

子供たちへ　：

Saw a grass hopper on the cruel
concrete sidewalk beside a busy street
where mad cars and trucks drive by.Picked him up and I saw a little
girl on a stroller approaching with her
mother who were wondering what I
was doing.
Showed the little girl the grass hopper.
The girl wanted to touch the bug.
The mother was excited, too and called
her little son's name "Sho chan !"
The little boy named Sho ran to me and
saw the quiet little bug.

I told him " He was on the terrible
hard and non-hearted concrete.
Unless I bring him back to the field,
he'd die. "
" How kind .. " the mother said.
Kids were silent.車がバンバン走る道路わきのコンクリートの
歩道で行き場所に困っているバッタさんが
いたから、手にとった。

すぐうしろから来たベビーカーの小さな女の子と
お母さんが、なんだろうとこっちを見てたから
バッタを見せた。
お母さんは、ビックリして 「 まあ、こんなに大きな
バッタがいたんですか？ 」 と言うやいなや
「 ショーちゃ―ん！」 と2回大声で叫んだ。
すると脇道のマンションへの小道から8才くらいの
ショーちゃんが走って出てきた。

「人間が勝手に作ったイヤなコンクリートの上だと
　すぐに人に踏みつぶされるから、草むらに返すん
　だよ 」 って言ったら、ふたりの子供は、目が真剣に
なって、こっちを見ていた。
すぐにお母さんが 「 まあ、優しい・・」

「 バイバイ！」 って別れて、ママとふたりの
チビッ子がマンションに向かう時、何かを深く
感じながら歩いてるのが、うしろ姿でわかった。
普段のセカセカとした、速足 (はやあし) じゃなくて
ゆっくりゆっくり歩いていた。

As we said bye-bye to each other
and they started walking away, I could
tell that they felt something.
