How many ..? Blowin' in the wind

The newspaper article attached says --

- The ex-prize fighter Eiji flew to NYC
10 years ago right after 9/11 attack,
trying to dig people out from ground zero.
- Since then, the boxer started visiting
schools and towns in and outside of Japan
to spread "love" and "caring" instead of
KOing others.
- No wars bring peace.

It was a hot day in Tokyo.
Too many sheeple in Japan who even
keep sleeping while radiation is
everywhere pretend that they don't see
the reality which eventually may kill a
number of children .. I hope I'm wrong though.

Today, some thousands people stood up
and marched down the streets as it's
exactly 6 months ago that it all happened.
However, the radiation smoke, water,
soil are open to everything every second
and it's been half a year.

Only about 20-30 percent of Japanese
sheeple think that we should ban all the
nuclear plants even after all this.
Education/brainwashing can easily
destroy the world.
So sorry to the world.

I will stop them one by one.
Nothing is more unfair than killing

I was thinking of you today while
attending a memorial service for 9/11.
While I never forget the horrors of this
date I am very proud of the progress
and the remembers museum that was
build on that scared site where so many
inconstant people lost their lives.
On you next trip to NYC

もうあれから10年が経つんですね。
有事のときにこをその人の人間性が現れるということを、
EIJIさんの勇気ある行動から私たちは学ばなければなりません。
特に日本の政治家連中よ、括目せよ。

以前EIJIさんが「映画とボクシングにありがとう!!」
というブログを立ち上げておられて、そのブログの
コメントとして勝手ながら自分の体験談を掲載
したことを思い出しました。
またあの時の原点に自分が立ち返る意味で、
再度その体験談をお伝えさせてください。

2001年9月11日は私たち親子にとって忘れようにも
忘れられないDoom's Dayとなりました。
少し長くなってしまうかもしれませんが
私の体験談をお話させてください。

私たち親子三人は10日間の短い夏休みを
アメリカで過ごすはずでした。
9月8日に日本を発ち、航空運賃を節約するため
息子が三歳の誕生日（9月18日）を迎える前日の
9月17日にアメリカを発ち日本へ帰国する予定でした。
あの忌まわしい事件が起こらなければ・・・。

順調にいけば、ボストンのホテルで3日滞在し、
9月12日ニューヨークに向かい、そこから
観光バスでナイアガラの滝を訪れる予定でした。
9月11日にコプリという町を散策するついでに、
妻の友人でボストン在住のアメリカ人の
女性と会うことになりました。
9時をまわっていたので職場だろうと思っていましたが、
彼女は自宅にいました。
すぐに私たちのいるコプリに車で駆けつけてきました。

彼女は妻と抱き合って再会を喜んでいましたが、
それも束の間彼女は
「The World Trade Centers have gone!
あなたたち知らないの?」と言ったのです。
「Gone?! You're kidding!」と思わず笑った私に、
真剣な目で彼女は冗談ではないと答えました。
証拠を見せると言い、彼女の自宅のテレビであの
忌まわしいシーンをニュースで目撃したのです。
彼女が出勤した直後に事件発生、
急遽自宅に待機となったのだそうです。
職場に電話しても連絡が取れないはずです。
彼女のオフィスもボストン市内の高層ビルに
あったためターゲットになる恐れがありました。

9月12日にボストンのローガンエアポートから
ニューヨークに向かう予定だった私たち
夫婦はここでようやく事の重大さに気づきました。
一歩間違えればビルに激突した飛行機が自分たちの
搭乗するものだったかもしれない。
テロリストはローガンエアポートから
9月11日に乗っていたのですから・・・。
いやそうでなくても貿易センタービルに
観光に行っていたかもしれない。
いろいろなIFが頭をよぎるたびに背筋がぞっとしました。

翌日、テロリストの仕業であり、首謀者がビン・ラディン
であるとの報道に少し驚きました。
というのもそれほど事件発生から時間が経過して
いないのにレポーターやコメンテーターがかなり
詳しい内容を伝えていたからです。
しかもCNNのテロップには
America's New Warとなっていました。

（今思えばテロとの戦いというニュアンスのほかに
ネオコンと呼ばれる戦争をしかけようとする勢力の
思惑が見え隠れする表現にも受け取れます）アメリカの
情報の速さに驚くと共に漠然としてはいましたが、
何かうさん臭さを感じたのです。
別に冷めているのではなく、ケネディ大統領暗殺時の
あまりに素早いオズワルド逮捕劇と二重写しに
なっていたからです。

しかしニュースであのシーンが何度も流れるだびに
怒りが込み上げ、犠牲者のことを思うとどうしようも
ない悲しみに胸が張り裂けそうでした。
首謀者がほくそ笑んでいる姿が脳裏に浮かび
許せませんでした。
この時のアメリカ人の怒りは私の怒りにもなっていたほどです。
近くの広場でChristian Science Monitor主催の
犠牲者追悼式に飛び入り参加し、悲しみにくれる多数の
アメリカ人とキャンドルを灯し、罪のない犠牲者の死を悼みました。
脇で息子が無邪気にキャンドルを吹いては消して
面白がっている姿がなぜか悲しみを増幅させました。

そんな息子を見ているうちに親バカというか、
こんな事を考えていました。
海外旅行とはいえ、日本人であるのに今まさにテロ事件の
現場に身を置いているこの子はもしかして将来、暴力や
戦争とは対極の平和の使いになってくれるかもしれない、と。

その前提として親の自分が少しでも平和への土台を
彼らのために作っておいてあげよう。

EIJIさんの「こども国連」という平和の使いを
結集する活動のように。
最後に、差し出がましくもEIJIさんのブログなのに
自分の体験談を長々と述べてしまったことをお詫びいたします。
