Too bad about the fight.
I think the same thing happened
when Tuffy Rhodes was going to
break Sadaharu Oh's home run
record 10 years ago.
No pitcher on any team, including
Daiei that Oh was managing at the
time, would actually pitch to him.
They walked him every time.
Even though Oh is not "Japanese"
he is a Japanese baseball hero.
I just could not believe that all
of the teams did that,
but I guess the same principle
that applies to boxing in
Japan applies to baseball.
Too bad.
